Veer Narayan Singh
Veer Narayan Singh (1795–1857)[1] was a landlord from Sonakhan, Chhattisgarh. He spearheaded the 1857 war of Indian independence in Chhattisgarh.
He is also known and considered as "The 1st Chhattisgarhi freedom fighter"
His ancestor was from Gond tribal group and was residing in Sarangarh

RANI GAIDINLIU
26 January 1915 - 17 February 1993.
She was from the Rongmei Naga tribe (also known as Kabui).
Freedom fighter and Naga spiritual leader.
At the age of 13, she joined Heraka religious
movement.
Participated in National movement and was
arrested by British authorities at the age of 16 in
1932 and was sentenced to life imprisonment.
She was the leader of Guerilla forces that wanted
to drive out British from India.
Jawaharlal Nehru met her in Shillong Jail in 1937
and gave her the title of "Rani'" and described her
as "daughter of hills.
Nehru wrote a letter to the Secretary of State of India
for her release but it was rejected.
She was released in 1947 after which she continued to work for the community.
She was also awarded a Padma Bhushan.
